The official swimming facility of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, will span 7.8 acres, houses five pools, and seat 17,000 spectators, yet it doesn’t contain a single steel cable, concrete column or structural beam.

After featuring the stunning bubble building being built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, we felt it necessary to mention an equally-awesome structure under construction just across the way. Herzog and DeMeuron’s Olympic Stadium, fondly referred to by some as the Bird’s Nest, is a feat of engineering, an aesthetic marvel.

The 2008 Olympics equestrian events will be held in Hong Kong.

Without question, the most spectacular project is the China Central Television (CCTV) Headquarters in Beijing that is estimated for completion in 2008.
