A.        Listen to the instructor and circle the correct Pinyin in each pair.

B.        Listen to the passage and then select the right answers to the questions below:

 

II.               Characters

 

A.   Write out a character with the radical given in the box.

B.   Circle the radical of each of the characters in the box and use the character to form a phrase or an expression.

 

III.            Grammar

 

A.   Select the right word from the following list to fill in each blank in the following sentences.

B.   Rearrange the words in the following sentences in proper order.

C.   Identify the following statements true or false based on Chinese grammatical rules.

D.   Match the example Chinese sentences with their grammatical definitions.

 

 

IV.            Reading and Writing

 

A.   Read the following paragraph in Pinyin and turn it into Chinese characters.

B.   Translate the following sentences into Chinese.

 

      V.       Cultural Literacy

 

Study POEM or TONGUE TWISTER and FUN WITH CHINESE from each of the eight lessons. 

 

A.   Choose from the following word bank to fill in the blanks in poems.

B.   Match the idiom to its English translation and annotate it with PinYin.

    1) Memorize all poems, tongue twisters and FUN WITH CHINESE idioms.

    2) Start to brainstorm your Role-play project.

    1)  Finish up all exercises from practice tests. Study for test on Lesson 5 & 6.

    2)  Finish up all exercises for Lesson 5 & 6 from workbook.

    3)  Memorize poems, tongue twisters, and idioms.

November 5th, 2007

    1) Study for quiz on Lesson 6 core vocabulary.

    2) Do all exercises for Lesson 6 from textbook and workbook.

    3) Memorize the tongue twister – 任命,人名and the idiom.

November 1st, 2007

    1) Study for quiz on Lesson 5 core vocabulary.

    2) Do all exercises for Lesson 5 from textbook and workbook.

    3) Memorize the poem – 春晓/曉and the idiom.

    1)  Study for Test on Lesson 3 & 4.

    2)  Recite the poem from Lesson 3 and tongue twister from Lesson 4.

    3)  Memorize the Fun with Chinese IDIOMS.

    1)     Do all the exercises on worksheets for Lesson 4 including character writing sheets.

    2)     Recite the poem from Lesson 3 and tongue twister from Lesson 4.

    3)     Memorize the Fun with Chinese IDIOMS.

             Study for the quiz on core vocabulary words from Lesson 1 to Lesson 3 and Classroom Expressions.

            Interview with Instructor

            Prepare for interview with the instructor, which has three parts as follows:

    1)     Recital of tongue twister or poem

    2)     Read a passage in PinYin

    3)     Answer questions from 1 to 10 in complete Chinese sentences.

     

October 11, 2007

    1)     Finish all worksheets for Lesson 2 from your workbook

    2)     Make flash cards for Lesson 3 core vocabulary words.

    3)     Read aloud and recite all tongue twisters, poems and idiomatic expressions in the section of Fun with Characters.

     

October 8, 2007

    1)     Recite tongue twisters including the one from Lesson 2.

    2)     Recite Lesson One poem.

    3)     Read aloud dialogues and prose from the PinYin handouts received in class.

    4)     Make flashcards for Lesson 2 core vocabulary.

    5)     Do Lesson Two worksheets from Workbook.

    6)     Study for the test on Lesson 1 & 2.

 

October 4, 2007

    1)     Finish Lesson One worksheets from Workbook.

    2)     Recite tongue twisters including the one from Lesson 2.

    3)     Recite Lesson One poem.

    4)     Read aloud dialogues and prose from the PinYin handouts received in class.

    5)     Make flashcards for Lesson 1 core vocabulary.

 

October 1st, 2007

    1)     Read aloud dialogues and prose from HANDOUTS received in class.

    2)     Recite tongue twisters.

    3)     Recite the poem from Lesson 1.

    4)     Finish all character writing worksheets.
